The Mingo-McEwen Fund was formed in 1997 and was inspired by Brent's dream was to be involved with a major hockey team. The John Abbott College Islanders played a role in the fulfillment of that dream. The Lennoxville Cougars like the Washington Generals against the Harlem Globetrotters were the opposition for each of the contests at the Glenfinnian Arena in Ste Anne de Bellevue.
